Ergonomics is defined as relating to or designed for efficiency and comfort in the working environment. Not many employers think about the ergonomics of employees’ every day tasks. This is a major health concern. The repetitive motion of a daily task can have long-term effects on employees, so putting health and safety first is important. It also promotes good morale in the workplace and motivates employees to work more safely, showing they are not just number and replaceable. Showing employees their health and safety matters is a big part of being a successful business.
The Ohio BWC offers a service to visit your facility and observe employees. The BWC makes suggestions on changes/improvements and cites where there are health hazards. This can help many companies make changes they didn’t even know were issues. Also, it gives employees a chance to be heard about their daily routine and tasks. Conducting a meeting with employees about the BWC report and changes is a great idea.
